Approval and exemption
Do you want to take courses that are not part of your standard study programme? Then request approval from the examination committee. Have you previously obtained doctoral or Master's components? In some cases, you may be eligible for exemptions for certain parts of your study programme.
Contact and submitting a request
Requests to the Board of Examiners, such as requests for exemptions and approval of courses, postponement of graduation or adjustments, can be submitted via examencommissie.fsw@uu.nl. The Board decides on the request within a period of six weeks, counting from the date on which the request is received in its entirety.
Exemptions
There is only one exemption scheme: exemptions on the grounds of one (or more) doctorate or Master’s components obtained in the past.

Before submitting a request to the Board of Examiners, you may want to first discuss what is possible and permissible within your programme. For this you can contact your tutor or the study advisor via studieadviseurs.fsw@uu.nl.
Don't agree with the decision?
If you don't agree with the decision you can, within six weeks of being sent, appeal to the Examination Appeals Board of Utrecht University.
