The Academic Professional course will prepare you for the job market by helping to develop your identity as a professional.

Academic professionals are critical thinkers who can move smoothly between theory and practice and apply the latest knowledge and skills in order to identify and solve problems in social contexts. This approach forms the basis for the Master’s programme and is supported by the Academic Professional course, which integrates the various components of the Master’s curriculum into a cohesive whole.

Important components include: critical reflection, academic integrity, ethical professional practice, and entrepreneurial and lifelong learning. Students learn to maintain their integrity and remain faithful to their academic background when, as graduates in the job market, they may be expected to adopt a 'flexible' approach.

The module also focuses on practical skills that will prove essential in finding employment in the job market.

In order to help students use the academic knowledge and skills they are acquiring properly in practice, an important part of the Master's programme is a practical internship.

The study programme will ensure that there are enough internship placements available, but students must apply to the internship organisations themselves. The organisations will then decide who they take on as interns. The nature of the internship placements can vary, but all relate to the Master's programme.

Admission to a Master's programme does not automatically mean admission to a (specific) internship position. The study programme will ensure that there are enough internship placements available, but a student may nevertheless be rejected by a number of organisations due to personal unsuitability. In that case, the study programme is not bound to guarantee an internship placement.
