Emma Verbree
Completed a Bachelor’s programme in Language and Culture Studies and is now doing a Master’s in Multilingualism and Language Acquisition. She ended up in politics via a rather unconventional route: she did an internship at the Meertens Institute on cow language, and now works for the Dutch political party Partij voor de Dieren.
Sigrid van Setten
Also studied Language and Culture Studies, followed by a Master’s in International Relations in Historical Perspective. She recently started working as a Research Policy Officer at our own faculty, Humanities, at Utrecht University.
Marijn Baars
Studied Dutch (bachelor and master) and was active in student representation during his studies at the Humanities. He was a member of our Faculty Council and later chair of the student section of the University Council. He has worked for several ministries since graduating and currently works at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
Ilse Raaijmakers
She studied History at Utrecht University and the University of Amsterdam, graduating in 2008. Following a PhD at Maastricht University and roles in education, research and policy, she is now a senior policy adviser at Amsterdam City Council. Since 2020, Ilse has also been a city councillor in Utrecht for PRO (formerly the PvdA).
