There are many communications vacancies in almost every sector. Internal and external communication, marketing, community management, and so on. What will you be doing in these jobs? Do you need thousands of followers to get such a position? During this Your Perspective you will learn everything about how broad the communications field is, what jobs there are and how you can get there. Alumni tell all about their experiences!


After completing her studies in Language and Culture Studies, Annemijn Pikaar worked for several years as a freelance content creative. She worked in many areas, such as copywriting, SEO, graphic design, and strategy for clients like United Wardrobe and the Fund for Cultural Participation. Annemijn can tell you everything about freelancing in the field and what it entails, as well as her own considerations for returning to a permanent position!

After completing her BA in English Language and Literature, Min Jee Kim pursued an MA in Intercultural Communication at Utrecht University. She interned at CRH, a multinational in construction solutions, and was able to continue working there. She is now a Change Management & Communication Specialist, working on digital transformation, communication plans for change projects, and internal communication.

Maarten Bruggeman studied BA Media and Culture and MA Communication & Organization. He is familiar with the media world, having worked as an assistant production manager at Endemol Shine and as an Image Producer at DWDD. He has been working for several years as an Environmental Communication Advisor at ProRail, where he is involved in communication with people close to the railway. Together with his team, he is responsible for the province of South Holland, dealing with stakeholder analyses, communication plans, resident letters, and participation meetings. 

Henna Kanerva studied Media & Culture at UU and completed her MA Media & Business at Erasmus University. She has worked in marketing and communications across cultural and scientific sectors in Finland and the Netherlands. Recently, she returned to LIBER Europe as a Communications Coordinator, where she previously interned during her master’s studies. In this role, Henna oversees communication activities of the LIBER organization, events and conferences.
