Prototype And Test In Design Thinking Workshop

Design Thinking is an approach to solve problems in a human-centered, creative and innovative way - in design, in business, in society, and in our daily lives. Our workshop series on Design Thinking highlights the key components of this approach. Each workshop in this series can be visited either independently or in sequence, by visiting them in sequence you will complete your picture of Design Thinking.

Nothing is perfect at first. This is why it often helps to start with a draft version, which you can keep improving with new input and ideas. What may sound like writing your thesis, is what prototyping does for any product, service, or system in development.

A prototype captures the key functionality of a product, service, or system. Prototypes come in different shapes and forms, some are more technical than others, but in general, the leaner the prototype the better. Making a prototype early-on, showing it to relevant people and collecting feedback from them is something that can be useful in various contexts to help you improve what you are making.

In this 1.5-hour workshop, we will take you through the basic principles of prototyping, explain different types and uses of prototypes, and importantly, you’ll get to practice how to make a simple prototype yourself (how fun!). Additional plus: discover the university's own makerspace, called Lili's Proto Lab, where this workshop is hosted!
