Biodiversity Challenge
From 1 May to 1 July, Utrecht University invites you to explore nature at Utrecht Science Park and the city centre during the Biodiversity Challenge 2026 (previously 'Bioblitz'). Help map biodiversity on and around the campus: head outdoors with your smartphone and record the species you encounter, or join one of the nature excursions.
Help collect data
Since 2022, we have been working hard to enhance biodiversity at Utrecht Science Park. But just how effective are these measures? We want to find out with your help. We are also curious to discover which plant and animal species live around our sites in the city centre.
Head outside with your smartphone and keep your eyes and ears open. Do you spot a plant, animal or fungus? Take a photo using the ObsIdentify app. That way, together we can create an overview of all the life at the USP and in the city centre.
