Requirements

Université Lumière Lyon 2 is a French-speaking institution. Very few courses are offered in English at our university. Students will not be able to follow a 100% English-language program. Students must be sufficiently proficient in French to be able to follow classes and complete coursework. B2 is recommended

 

Exchange students have the opportunity to enroll in French foreign language classes at the International Centre for French Studies (Centre International d’Etudes Françaises) which specializes in French-language learning for non-native French speakers.

 

For English courses a minimum language evel of B1 (CEFR) in English is required. The International Office (UU Humanities) recommends a B2 level at the moment of exchange in order to fully participate in the courses.

Exchange students are free to choose any course they want from any regular undergraduate program (L1 to L3) and first-year master’s program classes (M1) for MA students. Students may not enrol in professionalizing undergraduate programme classes (L2 & L3 pro), university technical degree programme classes (DUT), in second year master’s classes (M2) or in DU programme classes.

While filling out the online application, exchange students may request a room in a public student residence.

 

Responses regarding student residence allocations will be sent to students arriving for the:

- fall semester in early July

- spring semester arrivals in early December

 

While we are unable to allocate a spot in public university housing to all students who request one, we guide students in finding accommodation in the private housing market or in accommodation shared with other students. Rent for a private accommodation: approximately 300€ to 550 €/month. We recommend students to start looking for accommodation as soon as they have received the acceptance e-mail from the Université Lumière Lyon 2.
