General Exchange Students who take courses are expected to be proficient in Japanese, equivalent to pass the highest level of Japanese Language Proficiency Test.

Housing assistance

Hiroshima University operates the HU International House and HU Ikenoue Student Dormitory, which provide lodging facilities for students. However, accommodation is limited, and over half of our international students live in private apartments. More information about accomodation facilities can be found here.

Although the cost of living varies depending on factors such as housing expenditure and food budget, the average living expenses for international students are between ¥66,000 (US$579) and ¥82,000 (US$719) per month.
