As a student of Utrecht University you can choose between

* subject-specific honours programmes at your own faculty to deepen your knowledge in your field of expertise

* interdisciplinary, cross-faculty education at the UU Honours College to broaden your knowledge

Every Bachelor’s degree programme has its own honours programme, which you can usually start at the beginning of your studies at the university. However, you can also join an honours programme during the course of the first year. You can find specific information about the honours programme of your degree programme on the programme page. On the Bachelor’s selection site, you can browse through the honours programmes of the various degree programmes.

Would you like to do an honours programme and look beyond the borders of your own area of study?  Then the Descartes programme could be what you are looking for. The Descartes honours programme is interdisciplinary and stands out on account of the university-wide character of their range of faculty honours programmes. Descartes is taught in Dutch.

Multiple Master’s degree programmes have their own honours programme, which you can usually start at the beginning of your Master's studies at the university. Utrecht University offers an honours programme worth 15 credits especially aimed at Master’s students with innovative potential. The Young Innovators programme can be combined with every Utrecht University Master’s programme, although it is subject to a selection procedure.

For Master's students looking for an intellectual challenge, the extracurricular honours programme Graduate Honours Interdisciplinary Seminars (GHIS) is an option. In discussion-based groups with scientists and fellow students you learn to understand and do interdisciplinary research. You can follow the GHIS seminars next to every Master's programme at Utrecht University.

In the UU Honours Leadership Programme you will learn all about leadership models and what makes effective leaders. This programme is taught in Dutch.

In STREAM, you can visit one of the LERU partners and become involved fulltime in one of their research projects for anywhere from one month to a full semester. You can use this experience as part of your honours programme.
